About Eugene Science Center: 

Eugene Science Center (formerly Science Factory) is Lane County’s only hands-on science museum and planetarium located in beautiful Alton Baker Park across from Autzen Stadium. It uses engaging and inspiring exhibit and program experiences to empower children and their families to use science and technology to improve their communities.

About the Speaker:

Tim began his museum career in 1996 as a part-time exhibit technician at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, an aquarium/science center hybrid with over 400 marine-related science exhibits. In 1997, he began working as a full-time exhibit technician, and in 1999, became Curator of Science Exhibits & Collections. He simultaneously attended Old Dominion University part-time, earning a B.S. in geology in 1999, and an M.S. in Oceanography in 2006. In 2008, Tim went to Nauticus, The National Maritime Center, as Director of Exhibits overseeing both interactive and live animal exhibits. Between 2008 and 2010, he also taught geology courses as an Adjunct Instructor at Tidewater Community College.
In 2010, he relocated to Ithaca, NY, to work as Exhibits Director at the Sciencenter. He was promoted to Associate Director in 2012 and Deputy Director in 2014. Between 2012-2016, he also served as a board trustee for the Tompkins County Public Library, and on the Tompkins County Bicentennial Commission.
In mid-2016, he and his family relocated to Eugene, OR, where he now leads the Eugene Science Center as Executive Director.
