In January of 2009, we launched GreenLane. The past year has been spent identifying the direction our organization is to take, as well as digging into the nuts and bolts work of developing a Steering Committee, creating committees, and creating our first Board. When we began last year, we were a handful of people with a lot of energy and excitement about what GreenLane could be. We ended this year with the strong support from the Eugene and Springfield business communities, as well as the structure in place to continue making this vision a reality.
Some of the accomplishments over the past year include the creation and implementation of our Networking meetings -- from our first meeting at the Market of Choice at 8:30am, where the agenda was “Okay, what should we do?”, to lunches at Mallard Hall with good food, the opportunity for members and guests to shout out Kudos and wants and needs, and an excellent list of seasoned speakers. We’ve come a long way.
This next year we will continue the work of building a sustainable local economy -- our goal is to have more educational opportunities, increase the educational resources for all members, promote the sustainability efforts of our members, impact change in our community through a legitimate, unified voice, a continuation of our Networking meetings, and much more.
We are truly thankful for the generosity of Mallard Hall, Big Green Events, and Northwest Community Credit Union for their wonderful commitment to GreenLane. We cannot thank Big Green Events enough for their donation of Mallard Hall for our Wednesday afternoon networking meetings, and to Northwest Community Credit Union for the sponsorship of the launch of our organization.
We also want to take this opportunity to thank all those who helped make GreenLane a reality, as well as our 92 members who have taken a leap this past year to support a fledgling organization. A special thanks to the dreamers, the founders, the steering committee and our first GreenLane board.
