Green Marketing

Anonymous's picture

I saw this article and thought it might be a good thread to start...there are several challenges that we face as "Green Marketers"  One of which I struggle with is:  "am I doing enough?"  The balance between environmentally sustainable and economiclly sustainable is very challenging.  Please read the below article and share your thoughts

Green marketing presents unique challenges, not the least of which is the lack of standards for determining what it means to be a green product -- or a green company. Along with the rise of green consumers, we see the rise of ecolabeling, green advertising and the importance of environmental reporting. That creates the opportunity for just about anything to be marketed as green, from simple packaging changes to products and services that radically reduce materials, energy, and waste. In this section GreenBiz looks at how companies are succeeding in conveying "green" as a component of their value proposition.

Daniel, thank you for sharing the GreenBiz article regarding marketing and communications, which includes green advertising among the challenges. Green Biz also posted a news article (Oct. '07) about SustainLane's Green Ad Network. Although I am not directly involved with SustainLane's Green Ad Network, I want to share the link with everyone, so that as we are planning our green marketing and advertising campaigns, we have their expertise as a valuable resource and network to tap into:

About the SustainLane Green Ad Network:

"The SustainLane Green Ad Network is the largest premium vertical online advertising network that provides access to over 300 million + monthly page views and 21 million unique users covering the LOHAS Market. LOHAS is an acronym for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability, a market segment focused on health and fitness, the environment, personal development, sustainable living, and social justice."

SustainLane Green Ad Network doesn't just provide a one-stop shop for the highest quality green (LOHAS) websites, but also provides you with information and expertise in the marketplace.

"SustainLane provided us with an easy way to manage the process. They have brought together some of the best green sites out there into an easy to buy network. We were able to simplify our ad buying process and easily optimize our campaign to reach the best green customers in this emerging market."
