CarrotMob changes business through organizing consumer purchasing.

  1. Businesses compete with how much good they are willing to do.
  2. Consumers choose one business they want to reward.
  3. Consumers support that business by making coordinated purchases.
  4. The most successful business gets rich.
  5. Consumers buy things that they would buy anyway, but by organizing themselves, they change the world.

CONSUMER:

You sign up for CarrotMob either through joining GreenLane or through finding us on Facebook (CarrotMob Eugene) and then wait for something to happen. In this case, GreenLane is planning an event to help coffee stores go green. Watch for an email to vote on your favorite coffee shop. Once the community has chosen, swing by this shop, and grab a coffee and scone, or muffin and tea, or juice and cake. It's easy, and when a whole mob of people do this easy thing, the mob becomes extremely powerful, and we can compel the coffee shop to put solar panesl on the roof, stop using to go cups that are not compostable or recyclable, or whatever we want!

BUSINESS:

Are you deciding whether or not you should get involved with CarrobMob? Don't worry, like all other businesses, you're probably being very responsible in some areas but still have plenty to learn and a lot you could do to improve your impact on the world. If you are interested in becoming a more responsible company, then CarrotMob is for you. You might be concerned that activists will criticize your failures and turn you into a villain, but don't worry. We don't do that. We never attack, because we don't need to. Who needs to use a stick when we've got a carrot? We're here to help you boost your profits in order to make it possible for you to make some great changes to your business. It's that simple.

ACTIVISTS:

We are activists who accept the premise that corporations will nearly always continue to keep profit as their top priority. Historically, this situation has left activist feeling helpless. But, rather than rage against this perfectly normal tendency, we work with it. CarrotMob can put rewards in place that will make environmental responsibility the most profitable choice. Companies will do what we want, not because of negative pressure, or morality, or a boycott, or a petition... there are enough sticks out there. We need a big juicy carrot. They will do what we say because they won't be able to resist the profits.
