Eugene’s Climate and Energy Action Plan (CEAP) - City Council Work Session

The Climate and Energy Action Plan is going to City Council during their work session at noon on September 15 in the McNutt room in City Hall.  The work session begins at noon and the CEAP is the second item and should begin discussion at about 12:45.  Remember, work sessions can be observed but there is not time for public comment.    All council meetings and work sessions can also be viewed online

Changes to the CEAP:

There has been supporting evidence added since the May draft as well as some clarifying language.  Below are the more significant action-related changes that were made:

  • Added recommendation: Establish a permitted facility within Eugene/Springfield area that can accept and compost (or anaerobically digest) all organic materials including food wastes.
  • Added recommendation: Assess and reduce barriers to solar energy use and balance priorities for solar access.
  • Revised targets: The plan incorporates the state’s proposed GHG emissions targets to be adopted as official GHG targets.

 

The updated Climate and Energy Action Plan will be available on the City website shortly after the Council work session.
